Newそば. Hello and welcome to the Pig and Whistle Tales from Azeroth. As always here at the Pig and Whistle Inn in Stormwind, I go for a variety of subjects with regards to World of Warcraft. So grab a bottle or a pint, sit back and enjoy this midweek episode. We'll be going over what our series and we'll be finishing up the last of it with the Evoker class. We're going to be looking at the specializations, the usage in PvP, slash raids, mythic pluses, stuff like that, the roleplay elements, pros, cons, etc. So let's get straight into it.

Speaker 1:

Evoker is the newest class in World of Warcraft. It was released in Dragonflight. It's got three specializations. It was originally released with two. It's the only class to actually gain a specialization, like in the later stages. You can kind of make that like argument for Druid, with Guardian Druid being added. But Guardian Druid was kind of already in the game as it is. The tank specialization and the bare tanking talents were in the feral tree. So it kind of already existed. But you know you can do some ifs and buts with that.

Speaker 1:

But the evoker specializations are preservation, devastation and augmentation. That's the one, that's the one that haunts my dreams. One is your healing specialization and the other two are your DPS specializations, with augmentation being a somewhat support class rather than a DPS class, even though it does still bring decent damage in PvP at the moment anyways. So in terms of PvP, let's go over the spec as a whole. First, preservation is very much a short-ranged healer. You're very much in the thick of it, as it were, if you're in a PvP environment because you have 25 yards of range. I think that's kind of like your maximum and essentially you have a lot of utility to utilize for melee classes. You rarely play with like double cast or it's more of an aggro playstyle preservation in PvP because you can pump out a lot of damage as well.

Speaker 1:

With Fire Breaths You're fly over I forget what it's called rain from above, something like that. But yeah, this is the same form of Mythics I would imagine You're very much a supportive healer rather than a just pump heals and do nothing else sort of healer. You're very much in their purging buffs with your Fire Breath if you're in PvP and you're constantly doing quite a fair amount of damage. To be honest, as a healer yourself. The devastation and augmentation devastation is very bursty. It's very bursty and can be very unpredictable. The damage is the best way to put it. Augmentation is very much you're boosting the other people's damage around you so you can give buffs to your teammates and essentially increases their damage done, and that is the main focus of augmentation. So it has been nerfed multiple times because of how powerful it is. It is very much a staple point to have in a Mythic Plus group, as well as one or two in like a raiding situation, and there are compositions in PvP that very much favor having an augmentation because they provide so much utility in terms of defensives, dispels with dream projection shields, damage, more damage for bigger goes essentially to have a lot more kill potential stuff like that.

Speaker 1:

Now, in terms of the most, this is probably the most Debated no, no, not debated Controversial specialization augmentation, evoker because of its supportive nature and I think it's a very good idea to have played around with a support class, as it were. But the thing with the support class is it buffed way too much. If you look at like Mythic Plus Raids or Mythic Plus Raids, mythic Plus and Raids, when they first released I'm pretty sure you had a full group of evokers that they did like a raid boss with this on Mythic. They had a full group of evokers and they had one death knight and a couple demonology warlocks and they essentially a mythic current raid boss at the time went down in about 30 to 40 seconds. It was crazy to see. So they support the other classes way too much because of the stat increase that they give. Now they've obviously nerfed it to a certain point, but it's more heading in the direction of just being a normal DPS, which I think it needs to be at this point.

Speaker 1:

Augmentation shouldn't be a support class, because how poorly it was originally designed. Don't get me wrong. It's amazing to play around with the idea of a support class, but the way that it's gone at the moment, you definitely need to go back to the drawing board and rework it or bring in another specialization or a class that can become a support class rather than you know. Try and add one mid-patch. Kind of. Use this as a foundation of going forward rather than like a failure, mainly because it kind of is a failure because of how broken and busted they were. This is probably the most broken spec since the release of death knights in Wrath of the Lich King and they were giga busted. They were the most broken class in the game up until now. So yeah, I think that they probably need to go back to the drawing board and just make augmentation a DPS and then later on in WoW's history they can look to add an actual support class and learn from what the mistakes were with augmentation. But let's get back to it.

Speaker 1:

So, pvp wise evokas are very strong in PvP if you pair them with the right classes. Preservation with sort of a melee DPS composition is very good. Anything that goes aggressive as well as devastation, anything that has, goes really. So death knights are the best ones. Monks are also very good at points, but death knights are the best because that's like when they can set up. Essentially every sort of minute. They have a go death knights, and that is perfect for the evoker, as that is when they have a go as well.

Speaker 1:

In terms of PvP or PvE, augmentation, like I said, is just very prominent in that. At the moment, I think it's a lot less so because it's very bursty and then it does nothing. It doesn't really provide anything extra to the raid environment. You just rather have an augmentation in there. At the moment, devastation is a weird one because you could do so much burst with it but at the same time you just do nothing after and it's very tough to play with it. Essentially, [#6 In terms of pros and cons of it.

Speaker 1:

The Evoca is the shortest ranged caster. It's actually getting outranged by some melee in air quotes like Rep Paladins Decays, like it's crazy, it's absolutely crazy. So that is definitely one of the cons. But the pros are they are actually quite durable, being a melee or male wearing caster, such as like Shamans. They also have multiple defensives renewing blaze, a couple of walls, essentially both on like the same cooldown, kind of like paint suppression when you have two charges of it. So it's defensively very strong. But it also doesn't have a lot of CC. For PvP it doesn't bring a lot of utility. Devastation doesn't anyway. Augmentation very much does bring utility to the table. So they each have their own niche, but I think Evoca is one of the.

Speaker 1:

It's one of the classes that I found really tough to actually get into because of its, the way that it plays, its movement and the way that it like actually casts stuff and gets its damage out. I just I couldn't find a way to play it. But it's definitely suited for certain people and how they play, I would say. But it is one of the newest classes, so it takes time to people to really perfect it. I think anyone's truly perfected it. I think people are very good at the class, don't get me wrong Like very high up there. But to perfect it to the levels that you know, priest, has been perfected.

Speaker 1:

Druid, everything that we've had since base being, base launch of the game. It's very tough to pull that in the sense. But that is it for this episode. Thank you all very much for listening.
