Thank you, hello and welcome to the Pig and Whistle Tales from Azeroth. As always here at the Pig and Whistle Inn in Stormwind, I go for a variety of subjects with regards to World of Warcraft, so grab a bottle or a pint, sit back and enjoy this episode. We'll be going over a few questions that I have been asked recently with regards to WoW, and these range from many different things. They range from absolutely everything, and I've picked out several that I'm going to go through today. I have more just in case needed, but I don't think that will be so. We'll start off with the weekly news. As always, you have Kordak, kordak, kordak, not Kordog, that's a me writing that down wrong there. Kordak and the Gobfather as your world bosses for the week. Kordak can be located within the Isle of Dawn yes, I think that was it. Isle of Dawn slash Kazalgar. I think the entire island is called Kazalgar. So Isle of Dawn, the Isle of Dawn and the Godfather in the Undermine they all give decent gear, so make sure you do them as well as, you know, a bit of gold, maybe.
Speaker 1:World quests are your bonus event for this week. This means that you get more reputation for completing world quests. This means that anything that you want to do reputation-wise is now the week to do it. Arathi Blizzard is your brawl for the week. This is simply Arathi Basin, but a little bit of a modified version, where Arathi is a bit more's say snowed in and it means that you can't see about 10 to 20 feet in front of you. Something along them lines so makes it visibility very hard. It means that communication is needed to win these and it genuinely is quite a nice little change to the scenery of Arathi Basin. So I would recommend checking that out when you can. Of Arathi Basin. So I would recommend checking that out when you can.
Speaker 1:So the first one that I picked out from a bunch of questions was how do I get into WoW, and it's very tough one to answer because it's kind of the same as how you get into any game you need to have a interest in it first. So the interest in world of warcraft will be oh, do you like casting spells? Do you like um fantasy? Do you like role playing? Do you like pvp? Do you like pve?
Speaker 1:You enjoy, like any of these sort of features, and if you enjoy one of them but you don't enjoy all of them, that's fine as well. You don't have to focus on all of them. You can only focus on one thing. If you like, play, let's say, a fighting game, okay, like I don't know mortal kombat or something, and you're like the reason that you play these games is because you enjoy the fighting aspect, you enjoy the whole punching aspect of it, I don't know. Then you might want to pick up a monk or you might want to look at a monk or something, and that's amazing, like you are more than welcome to. But if you do it because of how the gameplay is. But if you do it because of how the gameplay is, then you're going to find it a bit difficult now with any game.
Speaker 1:The way that I find a new game that I enjoy is I look at the style of the game. So I just look at how it looks, firstly, and if I like the look of it and it sort of captures me, then I'm like, okay, let's see what else this can sort of entail. Now you might think, oh, but every game looks good now and it's like, yes, they all look good in their own right, but stylistically they're completely different If you look at I forget the name of the game. Ok, let's go with Borderlands. Ok, borderlands is very unique in how it looks. It's very cartoony and sort of drawn um to an extent, but it's amazingly done. If you compare this to world of warcraft, it's a completely different skill. Set um and look and these things all do add up. They really really do, and it can make or break the game for someone. So this is very important. If you like the look of the game, then it's a great start. That's when you want to decide okay, what aspects of the game do I actually think I will enjoy? Will I enjoy the combat of this?
Speaker 1:I don't really like having loads of buttons to press. That's fine. Because you don't really like having loads of buttons to press. That's fine because you don't need to press loads of buttons. Okay, you can press. You can play something that has sort of less buttons. If you want to do pve content, you can play a beast mastery hunter or something, or a fury warrior. That doesn't have many buttons. Now, they do in their own right when obviously you're playing it to the highest level. But if you want to do simple damage, you press your avatar, uh, and then you press your sort of blade storm or your recklessness and your rampages. It's kind of it blood thirst, wrecking blows, and you know that's it, wrecking, blow, blood thirst to get some rage and then you press Rampage. Yeah, that's kind of it For BM Hunter, you would press a couple of barbed shots, kill Command, barbed shots, kill Command, and then your cooldowns. You weave in between that with Call of the Wild, bestial, wrath, etc. So some classes do have less buttons to press than others, which is really good.
Speaker 1:And the best thing about WoW is that it offers a lot of different varieties when it comes to gameplay. Okay, you have your hunters, you have your mages, your warlocks, your warriors, your paladins, your monks, your druids, your priests. You know, you've got many different ways that you can play. You can be a melee, you can be a ranged, you can be a caster, you can be a healer, you can tank melee. You can be arranged, you can be a caster, you could be a healer, you can tank, so you can decide if it is for you just based on okay, there is a lot of variety. This is the type of variety I like. I like protecting my team, I like healing my team, you know, okay, that's great. We have these healer selection or options for you that, being evoker, monks, priests, you know there are a lot of options that you can take, and the fact that it isn't very linear in terms of gameplay is what makes it kind of user-friendly at the same time, but it doesn't also.
Speaker 1:So, the more linear the game, obviously you hop in and you just get taken through the story and it's like yep, this is easy, don't need to think about where I'm going, what I'm doing, but because wow is a mmo and it's an open world um thing, it's very much oh, okay, I've got this quest to do this, but should I be doing this or should I be going to do something else? And then you wander off and you go and find out oh okay, so herbalism. What do I do with this? Oh, I go and pick up flowers. Okay, these flowers can be used for alchemy and you know, these multiple things can lead on, like before you finish in, like this quest that you have in your quest log.
Speaker 1:So there is a real open element to world of warcraft and I think that this is how you get into it you need to pick something that you enjoy from the game or that you think looks cool from the game, and you have to go with it. You just got to go with it. Okay, you got to trust your gut. If you like the look of the game, you've got to trust your gut on it. Yeah, if you second guess it, that's when it's like maybe I don't know, and I get that. Some people second guess it because they might not like the subscription base to the wow, they might not like the artistic style to the game, they might not like how it operates from a fundamental level of WASD to move around, mouse clicking kind of deal. But the best way to get into WoW is honestly, don't look at anything, because there is 20 plus years now of information on World of Warcraft online. Okay, so you're just going to get absolutely swamped and in over your head about it and you think too much about it.
Speaker 1:The best way to get into WoW is to jump on and play. Ok, have an idea in mind on what you would enjoy, whether that be a melee sort of a hit them like face to face, a ranged like attacker, a caster, a caster healer tank, all of that kind of thing. Have a thought on what you would probably enjoy and just go with it, first class. You see that looks cool. If you see that, like, you've got a row of classes at the bottom and you see, yeah, I'll go for paladin, that looks really cool, great, do it. Click on that little paladin icon, get your character customized, name it and get in there and see how it feels. It's as, it's that simple and I get that.
Speaker 1:Some people do not like, um, the subscription based stuff. I get it. I'm not a big fan as well, I, but the game is updated quite regularly right now. Okay, there have been points in wales history where the game has not been, I will admit that, and that is really bad on their part, but the game at the moment is being updated very regularly, which is a very, very good and this is what the player base want. But if you are unsure, uh, you always have that 30 day free trial. Okay, so you can simply go on battlenet and you should be able to find world of warcraft sort of free trial free 30 day trial. If you have a friend that plays world of warcraft, they can um send it to you via an email, I believe. So you get 30 days to test it out and once you've tested it out, you can make that decision of yeah, you know what? I will give this game a go and I'll see how I go, because I really enjoyed these 30 days, or the amount of time that I got to play in the game, which is great. That's amazing. So my advice you've just got to jump in. Don't look at any info, just jump straight in.
Speaker 1:I get that it's very daunting because it's such a big game and it's been out for years and years. I get how daunting that is. You have to just try and overcome it. You really really do, because, look, personally, I have never played RuneScape. No, I, no, I have played runescape, but very young. Okay, it is a game that I absolutely would love to try. I genuinely think it would, I would and I think that I would enjoy it. The reason that's stopping me, um, is because so many people have already played, is because so many people have already played that and I already have my sort of plate full with WoW at the moment. Yeah, I've got a lot to look forward to during WoW. I still want to play on WoW and I can't really make the time for RuneScape, as well as classic World of Warcraft, retail World of Warcraft, etc. Etc. So there are a couple of reasons, but it does feel daunting going into an older game that's been out for years, but I promise you jump straight in and you will be fine. Ok, you will be fine.
Speaker 1:The next one is well, actually I kind of already touched on this how do I not get overwhelmed? And I'm going to answer this because I'm not going to rattle on about it, as I kind of said it in the previous point, but pick an element of WoW that you would probably enjoy. If you are very competitive, you want to look towards the PvP side of WoW, and this is when you get to level 10. This is when you can start doing it. Okay, now, at max level is when you get to level 10. This is when you can start doing it. Okay, now, at max level is when pvp really opens up and it gives you a lot more to do, okay, to focus on. But if you want to do pvp, you can do like battlegrounds while you're leveling. If you want to do pve, you're doing pve all the time. You're killing mobs, you're doing dungeons, doing delves, you're doing raids, late game, you know all of this stuff. So the way to not get overwhelmed is to focus on one thing and be like yeah, this is what I would want to do. I want to do pve and I want to look at dungeons, for example. Dungeons are really cool. I like all the different choices of dungeons, so that's great. Look all of the dungeons. Go through the dungeon journal and you can see all of the dungeons from the entire world of warcraft, um game essentially and you can see what kind of bosses there are, what kind of loot and get yourself familiar with that sort of thing. So best way to not get overwhelmed pick, pick something within WoW and focus on that. Don't worry about everything else. I promise you everything else will come to you in time. Just focus on the one thing that you would probably or see yourself enjoying in the game more so than anything else.
Speaker 1:Okay, the next question is going to be very opinion-based best class. Now, I'm really going to try and do this from every perspective, but it's very tough, so I'm going to rattle these off. Best class for a newer player if you're looking at a melee, you're looking at a warrior, okay, or rep paladin? You're looking at a warrior, okay or rep paladin? I've already questioned myself this is really bad. You're looking at maybe yeah, screw it, warrior. You're looking at a fury warrior for ranged. You're looking at a beast mastery hunter for caster. This is, um, your mages, your warlocks and stuff you are probably looking at I want to say ell Elishaman, but Elishaman has so much going for it. You're probably looking at an evoker. Okay, for newer players, evokers are going to be very tough to get into, though, because you need a character leveled up to a certain level before you can unlock them, sadly. So evoker would be my best guess, as it is one of the easier um classes to actually play at the moment, in my honest opinion.
Speaker 1:As for, uh, healers, you're probably looking. If you want a pure healing healer, you might probably want mistweaver Monk. If you're looking at the simplest healer oh god, all healers are pretty tough in their own right Maybe Holy Priest, but Holy Priest has a lot of intricacies with it as well. I don't think there's really any healer spec that is simple, and I know that sounds really awful, but it's not like they're super complicated as well. Some of them are, but they aren't simple, but not super complicated. So you kind of get what I'm saying. You can learn them is the best way of saying this. Um, honestly, my opinion, pick up priest. If you're looking to heal tank wise, you have your warrior, which is your standard tank, but I would go with something maybe like a demon hunter, as it's a bit more like. It will always be more relevant than a warrior, sadly, in any sort of meta. Um, so best class wise for newbies is all of them, not newbies but newer people to wow.
Speaker 1:As for like just most fun, I gotta say druid, man, druid is so fun. Whether you're feral, resto, uh tank guardian or boomkin. You are constantly shifting forms bear, cat boomy form, travel form. You even have like a glyph of um tree form, which is really cool. But I love the whole druid aspects. I love the whole druidic feel to the class, to any sort of game. I think it's really cool. The whole nature stuff and you know the astral stuff from Boomkins. You're cooling down full moons beams from the sky. You look really cool.
Speaker 1:As for best classes at the moment, in current meta, you're going to be looking at probably Eli Shaman. You're looking at probably ellie shaman. You're looking at feral druid. You're looking at holy priest or resto druid. You're going to be looking at these sort of classes. Um, I would genuinely say the best class at the moment is maybe a resto druid. Genuinely, I think resto druids are crazy right now for PvP anyway, and I think that they are only going to get better as more nerfs will come in, I'm sure, to other classes and they will just inevitably have that power creep that shines through eventually.
Speaker 1:Now the next one links into this as well. Most annoying class ellie shaman. All right, next question well, obviously this is going to be biased as well. I've got to say ellie shaman, and that is purely on the basis of I play caster in pvp and ellie shamans are notorious for being the sort of caster counter um or the most annoying um counter to another caster, because if they miss their kick oh who cares? They press grounding totem. Therefore, you still can't get your spell off and stuff. It's a bit annoying now, it's just a bit tedious. That's the problem with le shamans, it's always a bit tedious, um.
Speaker 1:As for most annoying class in general, I would have to say demon hunter. Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna say demon hunter, and this is on the basis of pP. But I hate the way that they just fly around Like I don't know how to describe it. They just fly around and annoy me. It's a ridiculous thing. So Demon Hunters have something called Vengeful Retreat. What Vengeful Retreat does if you have the PvP talent which every Demon Hunter does? Essentially it makes you immune to crowd control slows anything of that nature.
Speaker 1:Um, whilst you're in the air, and there's a way to increase this time that you are in the air, um, by maybe up to like a second or so. And you might think, oh, that's not a lot. Trust me, a second is a lot in pvp. You can get a lot of shit done within that second. You can get a kill happening, you can get CC on the other healer Multiple things can happen in PvP with one second. So just be aware of that.
Speaker 1:But I just don't like the way that I can't get away from them, no matter what I do. They have the dashes, they have the double jump the glide, they have the vengeful, they have the double jump the glide, they have the vengeful retreat. So I can't see them as well. They usually have a shadow meld because the well, I rarely see a blood elf demon hunter, let's face it. So yeah, I would say most annoying class is for sure, a DH, but Ellie is very much up there for me.
Speaker 1:Now the last question I want to end on PvE or PvP. Personally, PvP I find a lot more engaging, and this is due to the fact that everything is going to be different no matter what game you enter into now. You might be thinking, oh, but what if you come up against the same comp? It's like oh yes, I've played warrior le shaman for the fifth time in a row. That's fine. They're different people, different scenarios will happen within this game, and that's why I enjoy pvp, because it's still new. It's not a repetitive thing. They are pressing similar buttons, yes, but the scenarios might be completely different, and that's the difference.
Speaker 1:Pve is very much telegraphed in some way. Yes, this boss does this mechanic, but you've got to figure out how to deal with this mechanic perfectly while still doing your best damage rotation, and if you don't do that, the boss might hit an enrage timer, therefore one-shotting the entire raid. So this one is very much mid-max your damage and enjoy the repetitiveness of the boss and kind of treat it as a puzzle. Almost it's like okay, the boss does this at this time, so the raid group need to be over here and then, as he's casting it, we need to move it to the right hand side of the boss. You know this kind of shit.
Speaker 1:Um, in my honest opinion, you're going to be looking at pve um as a newer player, as someone who has played well over the course of 15 years. Now, I don't know it's, it's all a blur at this point, but over the course of this many years, I've seen pve's get more and more updates than pvp is, so you're going to be a bit more fortuitous and lucky to go into pve, if you are ever looking to get into well, because this is where the content will be dropping, no matter what. Okay, it will always drop without fail, every single patch. It's a guaranteed. It's one of them things. It's a guaranteed. Yeah, I'm. I'm so sad that I have to say that I really, really am. I much prefer pvp, but I don't know. Pve is get a lot more. They really do.
Speaker 1:But some of them still complain on the forums. Man, it's ridiculous. I see him complaining that they didn't get a raid or something two weeks after a raid come out. You know it's, it's ludicrous, it is what it is. It is what it is. But look, I'm gonna end it there. It's a bit shorter of an episode. I'm still kind of getting back from illness. It's still lingering there. I'm not sure what it is. Might be sort of long covid, I really don't know. My throat feels very dry. Recently you could probably hear it a little bit. It's starting to go, but it every now and again it will catch up with me. But look, thank you all very much for listening. You do check out all of the socials down below constant stuff happening, as well as an etsy shop, multiple things going up there constantly. But yeah, thank you all very much once again and go, eval a friend, goodbye, thank you.
